Brandy Rayana Norwood, commonly known as Brandy, is an American R&B singer, songwriter, record producer, actress, television host, and film producer.

She was born on February 11, 1979, in McComb, Mississippi, and grew up in Carson, California.

Brandy comes from a musical family, with her father being a church choir director and former R&B singer Willie Norwood, and her mother, Sonja Bates-Norwood, having worked as a district manager for the tax preparation company "H&R Block." Her younger brother, William Raymond "Ray-J" Norwood Jr., also became an actor and R&B singer.

Brandy is also a cousin of blues musician Bo Diddley and renowned rapper Snoop Dogg.

Early Life and Music Career

Brandy began singing at a young age, thanks to her father's influence. She started performing at the age of two at the Bro
